Boys Will Be Boys

American culture is so soused on politically correct Tranya, there should be a mandatory national 12 Step Program. Iraqi sub-primates are wilding while former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright worries because, “Americans have a ...better understanding of God's will than worshippers from other cultures and lands.” And in Falluja, “A group of boys yanked a smoldering body into the street and ripped it apart.” Oh well...boys will be boys.
Speaking of Falluja, that epicenter of peaceful Islam, do you think we should make Human Rights Watch (HRW) happy and send the residents a case of A-1 sauce for their barbeque? You know...that happy-go-lucky organization that bills itself as “Defending Human Rights Worldwide”. This week, in the wake of the Iraqi gibbons playing a round of Buzkashi with the remains of 4 murdered Americans, HRW was once again playing the deaf, dumb and blind monkey.
HRW’s homepage is awash with its worldwide defense of human rights’ alerts: “U.S. Violated Rights of Mexicans on Death Row”; “Iraq: Interim Constitution Shortchanges Women”; and the mother of all abuses “U.S. Cannot Deny Rights Protection to Detainees at Guantanamo”. But not one word about the Falluja Hoedown. Maybe HRW will condemn America for letting children play with fire because, “Some witnesses said the Americans were still alive when one boy came running up with a jug of gasoline.” I guess that boys will be boys.
And meanwhile, in a reversal of fortune, two teenage boys in a Dallas zoo pelted Jabari, a resident gorilla, with rocks until it jumped its enclosure and went wilding. After biting and roughing-up a few visitors, the Dallas police shot the poor gorilla. But, in Falluja, when “a boy no older than 10 ground his heel into a burned head,” the entire might of the U.S. military juggernaut became paralyzed by the impotence of its own culture.
Once it was too late to do any good, the U.S. army's deputy director of operations, Brigadier General Mark Kimmitt, promised that “Coalition forces will respond.” Let’s hope that this promised response doesn’t rival the Clinton aspirin factory firecracker or the tail-between-the-legs Mogadishu Shuffle. But, when Iraqi boys will be boys...American men seem to become boys themselves.
But who can blame U.S. troops surrounded by the likes of that volatile little tinderbox from Vermont? While the Jeffrey Dahmers of Falluja send Americans to the spits of the Baghdad barbeque, the borderline psychotic Green Mountain boy hyperventilates in paroxysms of blame. The peaceful Muslims of Falluja administered first aide to a surviving American by “...throwing bricks on him and jumping on him until they killed him” and Howard Dean “blamed Bush for the...U.S. soldiers killed....”
While Iraqis cheered and danced to celebrate their treatment of a wounded American by cutting “off his arm and his leg and his head,” Mr. Dean whined and wants to “to train people to knock on doors and make phone calls to encourage Democrats to run for office.” Boys will be boys and Dean will forever be...whatever.
Considering those who should run for office as Democrats...” Clerics refuse to condemn Fallujah killings”. Although granting some window dressing to the barbarism of their culture...Iraqi clerics refused to condemn the murders, “Another cleric in Fallujah, Sheikh Khalid Ahmed, said preachers in the town's mosques would tell their followers that mutilating bodies had been wrong.” Now I get it...kill the Americans and dance but don’t dance on them. Seems peaceful enough to me.
What exactly are the rules of war when children are dismembering bodies? What exactly are the rules of war when major international media companies are filming the defilement of American citizens for profitable nightly news ratings? What exactly are the rules of war when murder is advocated by religious leaders? Is America so “fat and happy” that affirmative action warfare is the new norm? God forbid we bomb a rampaging crowd intoxicated with bestiality. Or is this just a case of boys being boys?
At least animals kill to eat. The Iraqi sub-primates kill for lust. If you are no longer acting like a human, should you be protected by the rules of humanity? How do you apply standards of Judeo-Christian civil law to a culture steeped in perversions of Islamic law? How do you explain the meaning of “No” when there seem to be little consequences to “Just Saying Yes”?
This touchy-feely “Win Their Hearts and Minds” gibberish is how we flushed 50,000 Americans down the Vietnam drain. Sitting idly by and allowing murderers to operate in their Fallujian sanctuary evokes memories of LBJ playing monopoly with off-limit targets while Americans were being blown out of the Hanoi sky.
America’s primary obligation is to Americans. If a cluster bomb or two should happen to deter an Iraqi 10 year old from delivering his jug of gasoline to the injured bodies of American citizens...so be it. Besides...what 10 year old doesn’t want his 72 virgins!
Or...we can just put our “Paper Tiger” tail between our legs and give the country to the Shias. Let them deal with the Fallujian Sunnis...Iraqi style. That will be a galactic dance party. Then the boys will really be boys.
